Man Utd Boss Ten Hag Pulling Out All Stops To Land £40m Ace

Manchester United boss Erik Ten Hag is keen on signing Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund this summer and has video called the youngster to detail his plans for his prospective arrival, according to journalist Dean Jones.

What's the latest transfer news involving Rasmus Hojlund?

As per GOAL, Manchester United have been linked with a move for Hojlund this summer and it is believed that Atalanta are seeking to recoup £40 million for the teenage sensation.

Speaking to Tipsbladet with quotes transcribed via the outlet, Hojlund commented on recent developments, including his choice to sign up to a new agency and he also addressed rumours surrounding his future, stating: “It’s a trial period and that’s all I can say [agency]." He then added: “It is a huge club, so I must have done something right if it’s rumoured they want me. We have to see what happens. As you see and hear, I imagine a lot could happen to quite a few strikers this summer, as many clubs are looking for a No.9. Something will definitely happen there, and then we’ll have to wait and see if I am included in it. I am very happy to be with Atalanta and we have qualified for Europe. I have found myself in a really good place here, so now we have to wait and see.”

talkSPORT understand that Hojlund is subject to serious interest from the Red Devils, which is set to be taken up a notch in the off-season, with boss Ten Hag targeting two forwards to strengthen his forward line.

Sky Sports report that Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane is also a target for Manchester United; however, it is said that the England international may be unattainable, making Hojlund a more likely target at Old Trafford.

Interestingly, it has been reported that Ten Hag has already had a video call with the striker.

Speaking to Football FanCast, journalist Jones has shared his thoughts on the rumours that Ten Hag has made contact via a video call to try and sell Hojlund a vision of what life could be like at Manchester United.

Jones told FFC: "That personal touch can be so key in landing targets, we've seen Arteta use it to his benefit at Arsenal and I think it's a road that Ten Hag should be going down too. Making video calls is probably a good way of being able to get an early message across to a player, to show them your passion and show them the sincerity to which there is a pursuit of a player."

Does Rasmus Hojlund have the potential to succeed at Manchester United?

Hojlund absolutely has the potential to succeed at Manchester United and it is no surprise that the Premier League giants are trying to land the 20-year-old in an early stage of his career development.

In 2022/23, combined between his stint at Sturm Graz and factoring in his exploits at Atalanta, the Denmark international was in fine form, registering 16 goals and seven assists in 42 appearances, as per Transfermarkt.

WhoScored also note that Hojlund has a keen eye for goal and took on an average of 1.7 shots per match in Serie A during the campaign.

As per FBRef, Hojlund has also demonstrated excellent positional awareness and has soared in comparison to his positional peers in Europe's top five divisions concerning progressive passes received, taking in around 11 per match across the last 365 days, putting him in the first percentile for this metric.

Moving forward, Hojlund may well be a long-term solution in the final third for Manchester United that could grow into an elite striker with the correct man management.

Arsenal Could Sign New Ozil In £21m Wonderkid

Arsenal could be set to swoop for a young superstar this summer, in an effort to emulate a former favourite around north London.

What's the latest on Arda Guler to Arsenal?

That's according to Turkish-Football, who revealed that Gunners sporting director Edu Gaspar is leading the race for Fenerbahce's 18-year-old sensation Arda Guler, alongside top-flight rivals Newcastle United.

With both having made contact with the representatives of the player and an official offer in the works, it is expected that both Premier League clubs will move as quickly as possible as a summer of widespread interest looms.

Although highly thought-of at his current club, should the right offer arise they would definitely consider sanctioning his exit. Last summer it was reported that a fee of around €25m (£21m) would be enough to tempt the Turkish outfit.

Who is Arda Guler?

To emphasise the bright future of this teenage sensation, the creative attacking midfielder has consistently been likened to former Emirates hero Mesut Ozil.

GOAL journalist Tom Maston even wrote on Twitter in 2022:

"A second professional goal for Fenerbahce wonderkid Arda Guler (2005) today. Mesut Ozil may have been ostracised, but ‘the new Ozil’ is thriving at Fener".

Given the moments of magic the former German international often conjured in north London, being linked with someone of his ilk would surely have fans pleading for such a switch. Across his 254 appearances for Arsenal, the 34-year-old scored 44 times and assisted a further 79, which included that infamous 2015/16 campaign where he posted 28 goal contributions in all competitions, including 19 assists in the league.

Arsene Wenger lauded him as the "complete athlete" during that year, to compound him as a true star for the legendary Frenchman.

Meanwhile, Guler has been silently thriving in his homeland to earn such a comparison, recording six goals and six assists in all competitions much to the delight of legendary midfielder Andrea Pirlo.

The Italian icon was full of praise for the teenager, noting:

"Arda Guler is a very talented player. He has the potential to play anywhere in the world. He has quality, he can read the game well, and he has great technique. If he keeps developing his game, there is no limit to his potential."

He dresses his impressive figures up with that same classy play style that earned Ozil such praise, drifting onto that favoured left foot with poise and elegance. This explains exactly why Edu will be so keen to push through this deal.

Whilst this new-look Arsenal side has earned a steely resolve, largely removing the soft underbelly that had plagued them in the past, the Emirates crowd remains a keen appreciator of a silky operator.

Therefore, placing Guler before them would surely make him an instant favourite too, seeking to follow in the footsteps of the World Cup-winning maestro.

Fabrizio Romano Drops Update on £60k p/w West Ham Man

West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice will receive interest from the Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich over the coming weeks but no deal is close.

How much does Declan Rice earn?

A huge few days lie ahead of the Hammers as their season will come to an end on Wednesday when they face Fiorentina in the Europa Conference League final.

It was a season which will not bring many positive memories in the Premier League for the Irons as they finished 14th in the table.

However, David Moyes' men could make history by landing the club a European trophy which could potentially even save his job at the London Stadium.

But it could well be the end of the road for Rice in a West Ham shirt with his future up in the air ahead of the summer transfer market.

Indeed, it is believed the likes of Arsenal and Bayern Munich are just some of the clubs who are showing significant interest in the £60k-per-week Englishman.

And it would be a stunning way to bow out from his time with the Hammers if he was able to captain the side to European triumph.

Although it is expected the 24-year-old will leave West Ham over the coming months, Fabrizio Romano has insisted there is nothing ongoing currently ahead of Wednesday's final:

"From what I told, I really respect all the sources as you know but, in this moment, I'm told that nothing is done for Declan Rice with Bayern or with any other club.

"Bayern will try, for sure. Arsenal will make a bid after the Conference League final so the race is still open. Man United also have an interest this is the reality but at the moment nothing decided yet."

How much is Declan Rice worth?

Losing a player of Rice's calibre will be a huge loss for the Hammers if he is to leave over the coming months considering just how big of a role he has played at the club.

Despite being just 24 years old, the England midfielder has been able to rack up 244 appearances for the Hammers (via Transfermarkt).

declan-rice-west-ham-arsenal-transfer-gossip-odegaard-edu-arteta

Rice has been hailed as an "absolute monster" by some in the media and that can be seen through his return of interceptions which has him ranked inside the top sixth percentile, as per FBref.

And as a result, this is a player who the Hammers value incredibly highly with Moyes previously suggesting it would take more than £100m to secure his services.

However, there have been some reports suggesting the likes of Arsenal are hoping to land a deal for the midfielder in the region of £70m.

If Rice is to leave this summer it will naturally feel like a huge blow for all at West Ham. However, the club and fans will surely appreciate the manner in which he is handling his future.

Although speculation surrounds where he could potentially move, it is apparent the player is solely focused on the upcoming final as he looks to end the season on a major high.

Liverpool Can Ditch Jones For "World-class" £85m Machine

Liverpool are reportedly considering an audacious swoop for Newcastle United machine Bruno Guimaraes, who has arguably been the centrepiece of the Tyneside club's resounding revival.

Signing for the Magpies for £40m in January 2022, arriving from French Ligue 1 outfit Lyon, Guimaraes swiftly asserted himself as an integral cog in manager Eddie Howe's system.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is in the market for midfielders, and he's targeting the cream of the crop.

According to Spanish outlet AS, the Reds manager would be willing to part with £85m to facilitate the Brazilian's arrival, with his outfit having hit a bump in the road this season and seen progress derailed.

James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita are all leaving Anfield in a matter of months with their contracts set to expire, while stricken loanee Arthur is also on the way out.

It is important to regard, however, United's likely qualification for the Champions League this season, perched in third place, four points above Liverpool ahead of the Reds' trip to Leicester City on Monday.

Should Klopp's outfit fail to secure a seventh successive season in Europe's premier competition, there is no reason why Guimaraes should switch such a free-firing and affluent outfit that has clinched Champions League football ahead of schedule.

Who could Bruno Guimaraes replace at Liverpool?

While there is set to be ample room freed up in the Merseyside club's midfield this summer, the arrival of someone of Guimaraes' ilk could displace the first-team regulars, such is the scope of his skill set.

Prior to the weekend, the 25-year-old recorded a 7.25 rating in the Premier League last season, as per Sofascore, arriving in January, scoring five goals from 11 starts, completing 86% of his passes and making 2.6 tackles per game.

This term, while he has only scored three times from 28 starts, he is just as impressive and boasts a 7.13 average rating, completing 84% of his passes, making 2.4 tackles per match and supplying five assists.

Newcastle United's Bruno Guimaraes in action.

Lauded as "world-class" by teammate Dan Burn, Guimaraes ranks among the top 17% of midfielders across Europe's big five leagues over the past 365 days for rate of assists, the top 19% for shot-creating actions, the top 17% for progressive passes and the top 13% for successful take-ons per 90, as per FBref, illustrating the dynamism and energy of his output that could enrich Liverpool's fortunes.

The £120k-per-week phenom could be the perfect man to take over from Curtis Jones, who is perhaps unlikely to be deemed irreplaceable in the Reds midfield, especially when presented with the potential acquisition of a first-rate star such as Guimaraes.

The Liverpool ace ranks among the top 4% of positional peers for pass completion, as well as the top 8% for progressive carries and the top 14% for shot-creating actions per 90, described as the "complete #8" by one analyst & scout. However, he is arguably nowhere near the stature of Guimaraes, who has performed on the European and international stages.

With similarities easily drawn between the respective aces, Liverpool could sign a huge upgrade in Guimaraes and a player who could slot sweetly into the fold at Anfield.

Liverpool Must Unleash "Special" £180k-p/w "Legend" Vs AVFC

Liverpool will take on Aston Villa on Saturday afternoon with more than a little sense of pathos, despite constructing a seven-match winning streak in the Premier League and keeping their top-four hopes alive.

It's the end of an era at Anfield, as experienced quartet Roberto Firmino, James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are all set to depart; Firmino and Milner were instrumental in the creation of manager Jurgen Klopp's dynasty on Merseyside, while the latter pair's influence over the past several years has been inhibited by incessant injury woes.

Anfield will be in full voice and the players will be galvanised by the occasion, which might just come in handy against Unai Emery's Villa, who have won nine of their past 13 matches in the top-flight having undergone a drastic resurgence following the Spaniard's appointment in October.

With just two games left, Liverpool must secure victory if they are to keep their hopes of qualifying for next year's Champions League intact; Newcastle United are four points ahead in third, while fourth-placed Manchester United are one point above their historic rivals having played a game fewer heading into the weekend.

Should Liverpool start Roberto Firmino vs Aston Villa?

Of the aforementioned departees, Firmino has been the catalyst for change at Liverpool, signing from Hoffenheim for £29m in 2015 while under the tutelage of Brendan Rodgers, preceding Klopp's arrival by several months.

Regarded as a "stalwart" with "touches like velvet" by Reds icon Jamie Carragher, the 31-year-old Brazilian joined the ranks at Anfield when the walls were stripped and the stadium was tarnished by years of instability and a steady decline following the club's successes in the Champions League and FA Cup in 2005 and 2006 respectively.

The quintessential false nine, Firmino has scored 109 goals and supplied 79 further assists from 360 appearances, winning the whole gamut of silverware under Klopp's rule, notably including the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup.

But the £180k-per-week gem should not be unleashed on sentiment alone against the Lions. Having missed the past six matches due to injury and now confirmed to be fit, Firmino has plundered 11 goals and five assists this season despite only starting on 17 occasions across all competitions.

Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino.

As per FBref, the "special" star – as he was once hailed by his German manager – ranks among the top 7% of forwards across Europe's top five leagues over the past year for non-penalty goals, the top 3% for assists, the top 1% for progressive passes and the top 4% for tackles per 90.

Villa, who are flourishing and only sit outside of European contention themselves on goal difference, will fight tirelessly to upset the narrative and enhance their own prospects of success, but with the prolific Firmino taking centre-stage, his teammates' chances of finding opportune moments will arrive with greater frequency.

Cody Gakpo has been excellent of late, signing at a difficult time in January for £35m from PSV and initially struggling to find his feet, now thriving after scoring six goals and three assists; however, considering he is ostensibly viewed as Firmino's successor, deploying the distinguished Brazilian might work to greater effect on this particular occasion.

There is no doubt, Firmino is a Liverpool "legend", as heralded by talkSPORT's Darren Ambrose, and he might just have one last chance to etch a further page into his rich book of history at Anfield with a strong performance against Villa.

Chelsea Snubbed By £28k-p/w Boehly Target

Chelsea's efforts to sign AC Milan superstar Rafael Leao are set to fail, with the player ready to sign a new five-year deal with the UEFA Champions League semi-finalists.

Who are Chelsea linked with?

It seems pretty obvious that Todd Boehly will splash out for a new goalscorer this summer, with Frank Lampard's current squad at Stamford Bridge repeteadly failing to take their chances over the last few months.

The Blues have scored just 30 top flight goals from 43.48 expected goals this season, which is the biggest dispairity between those numbers of any club in the division. Unsurprisingly, they are linked with superstar strikers as a result, namely Napoli's league-winner Victor Osimhen.

Napoli striker Victor Osimhen applauds the fans following their Champions League exit.

The Nigeria international will need support from the attacking players around him if he does sign though, and perhaps that is where Leao was supposed to come in. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, via Sport Witness, Chelsea have been chasing the forward since Boehly arrived last summer.

However, the £28,000 per-week speedster is now ready to snub interest from west London in favour of signing a new deal in Milan, and is just waiting on his club to finalise an agreement with former club Sporting, who are due compensation as a result of the manner in which he left their academy in 2018.

Is this a blow for Boehly?

If it's true that the Blues chief has been chasing Leao since last summer then this is certainly a big hit, and perhaps even more of a hit for likely new manager Mauricio Pochettino.

The Argentine, presuming he signs on the dotted line, will surely want some new players of his own desipte the club's massive spending over the last 12 months, and Leao, with 13 goals and 13 assists this season, could have been the perfect marquee addition.

Labelled the new Ronaldo Nazário by former coach Tiago Fernandes for his lighnting quick feet and lethal finishing, the winger could have been everything Boehly hoped Mykhailo Mudryk would become.

Tottenham Planning To Open Talks With ‘Fantastic’ Manager

Tottenham Hotspur want to open talks with Julian Nagelsmann about taking over as manager, in light of the recent departure of Antonio Conte, according to a report.

What are the latest manager rumours from Tottenham?

Tottenham's interim boss, Cristian Stellini, will be given the opportunity to be in charge until the end of the season, but there are four or five managers on the shortlist to take permanent charge at the end of the campaign, as reported by Fabrizio Romano.

At one stage, Marco Silva was reported to be in pole position to take over, while last week Brentford's Thomas Frank was said to be the frontrunner for the job, so it is clear there are multiple people under consideration by chairman Daniel Levy. After Nagelsmann was sacked by Bayern Munich, Tottenham ended their interest in Roberto De Zerbi, instead making the German their priority target, with the club's hierarchy viewing him as an elite-level manager.

Now, as per a report from The Daily Mail, the Lilywhites could be set to formalise their interest in the former Bayern boss, as Levy wishes to personally speak to him about the now-vacant position. The club have drawn up a list of potential options as they look to land a replacement in the summer, with Mauricio Pochettino also said to be in the frame, although there is some opposition to his appointment internally.

Other names linked with the job include the likes of Frankfurt boss Oliver Glasner, and his preference for a three-at-the-back system with wing-backs could be a consideration, as the club have spent heavily to bolster those positions in recent times.

Would Julian Nagelsmann work at Tottenham?

The 35-year-old is reportedly open to talks about replacing Conte, but he may want a short period of time to decide on his next role, and with Stellini set to be installed as manager until the end of the season, taking over in the summer could be of great appeal.

Hailed as "fantastic" by sections of the media, the German won three trophies during his time with Bayern, and from the outside his sacking appears very harsh.

Bayern Munich coach Julian Nagelsmann shakes hands with Thomas Muller.

The reigning Bundesliga champions are through to the last eight of the Champions League, having defeated Paris Saint-Germain 3-0 over two legs, while they are just one point behind league-leaders Borussia Dortmund domestically. While he does not have prior experience in the Premier League, Nagelsmann is a top young manager, with a proven track record of winning trophies, and he would be a very exciting appointment for Tottenham.

Adam Pope: One Leeds player has impressed Javi Gracia

Leeds United attacking midfielder Brenden Aaronson has impressed Javi Gracia during his first week in charge, Adam Pope has reported.

The Lowdown: Aaronson back in the starting XI

The American was the club’s first summer arrival, joining from Red Bull Salzburg. The 22-year-old began the campaign as a regular under former Whites boss Jesse Marsch, but prior to Saturday’s win over Southampton, he hadn’t started in the previous four games in the Premier League.

The USA international returned to the starting XI in Gracia’s first game in charge, playing 75 minutes of the 1-0 win against the Saints at Elland Road.

The Latest: Gracia praises Aaronson

Pope took to Twitter on Monday afternoon to relay comments from Gracia’s pre-match press conference ahead of tonight’s FA Cup clash against Fulham.

The Leeds head coach was asked about Aaronson returning to the team last weekend, with the Spaniard saying that the 22-year-old  ‘had trained well in the week’ and adding that he thought the player ‘had a good game too’.

The Verdict: Another start incoming?

It looks as if Aaronson has impressed the new Leeds manager, so it wouldn’t come as a surprise if he keeps his place in the team tonight as the Whites look to advance to the FA Cup quarter-finals.

Labelled ‘magnificent’ by Jamie Redknapp earlier this season, Aaronson has been the club’s 18th-best performer according to WhoScored metrics, so the Whites will be hoping that Gracia can get the best out of the attacking midfielder in what has been a testing first campaign in England for the American.

He has been outperformed by youngsters Crysencio Summerville and Wilfried Gnonto according to WhoScored. With Leeds paying £25m for Aaronson, they’ll be hoping that he can go from strength to strength under Gracia, and it looks as if he has made a good first impression on the 52-year-old.
