Primeiro tempo

Os dois times entraram em campo com três zagueiros e o início do Majestoso foi equilibrado. O Corinthians pressionou nos primeiros minutos, quando João Victor arriscou e mandou para fora. Na metade do duelo, o ritmo do Timão caiu e quem passou a crescer foi o Tricolor.

Aos 18 minutos, Cássio começou a trabalhar forte. Primeiro, foi a vez de fechar o gol após chute cruzado de Alisson, que recebeu passe de Calleri. Depois, foi a vez do argentino, de cabeça, obrigar o goleiro a mais uma bela defesa. Do outro lado, Renato Augusto arrematava a longa distância e viu Jandrei defender.

O Tricolor era quem estava mais perto de abrir o placar, ocupando melhor o meio-campo e se impondo nas jogadas ofensivas. Não demorou para Arboleda, em cabeceio, assustar Cássio após cruzamento de Reinaldo na área.

Jô, até então, não entregava o que podia pelo lado corintiano e errava bastante. Apesar disso, uma bola cruzada por Renato Augusto, em posição irregular, o atacante finalizou com eficiência, mas o gol foi corretamente anulado pela arbitragem.

O Tricolor queria ir para o intervalo na vantagem e não tirou o pé nem mesmo com a confusão nos acréscimos, que se iniciou após falta de Du Queiroz em Reinaldo. Aos 50 minutos, Calleri colocou os visitantes em vantagem.

O argentino manteve seu bom desempenho diante do Corinthians. Agora, são três gols em quatro jogos desde que retornou ao Tricolor, no ano passado. Reinaldo cobrou a falta na área, Jô cortou parcialmente, e Diego ajeitou para Alisson, que cruzou na pequena área. Calleri dominou e bateu cruzado para marcar.

Segundo tempo

As duas equipes voltaram do intervalo com alterações. Pelo lado corintiano, Gil deu lugar a Adson, para tentar melhorar ofensivamente. Mantuan ficou na lateral direita. O Tricolor voltou sem Igor Vinícius, Reinaldo e Luciano, e entraram Rafinha, Patrick e Eder, respectivamente. Depois, Nestor deu lugar a Gabriel.

O clássico seguia agitado. O Timão voltou um pouco mais ligado, mas não conseguia finalizar com sucesso e empatar. O Tricolor chegou ao seu segundo gol, mas Eder recebeu em posição irregular antes de driblar Cássio e marcar, mas o tento foi anulado.

O Corinthians não desistiu e, aos 34 minutos, Adson, que entrou no intervalo, incendiou Itaquera após balançar a rede. Júnior Moraes fez bom passe para Lucas Piton, que cruzou na cabeça do camisa 28, que não desperdiçou e deu números finais ao confronto.

Cássio sente o ombro

Ainda deu tempo de Cássio fazer bela defesa em chute de Igor Gomes. O camisa 12 do Timão sentiu o ombro esquerdo e deixou o gramado aplaudido, aos 52 minutos.

As duas equipes voltarão a campo no meio de semana por competições continentais. Na quinta-feira, às 21h, na Neo Química Arena, o Corinthians recebe o Always Ready pela última rodada da fase de grupos da Libertadores. Um empate garante o Timão nas oitavas de final. Um dia antes, o São Paulo recebe o peruano Ayacucho, no Morumbi, pela Copa Sul-Americana. O Tricolor já está garantido no mata-mata da competição.

Com passagens pelo Leão, Ceni disse que a situação do gramado, devido à época de chuvas no Nordeste, prejudicou o Tricolor paulista. O treinador do Tricolor paulista também afirmou que considerou o desempenho da sua equipe inferior ao que foi apresentado na última disputa pelo Brasileiro, contra o Red Bull Bragantino.

-As duas equipes precisavam de um gramado melhor, natural, onde você consiga criar mais. Quando o gramado não está tão bom, é natural que seja mais fácil de destruir jogadas. Sei que o Fortaleza finalizou mais que a gente, com mais distâncias, chutes cruzados na área, mas dificulta. A gente sabe que essa época de chuva machuca muito o gramado e acaba tendo erros de passes, construção, mas ofensivamente não criamos tanto quanto no jogo do Bragantino – destacou.

Rogério Ceni aproveitou para criticar o árbitro que, de acordo com o treinador, parou a partida em uma lance desnecessário e que não estava previsto por regra.

– Tem que começar a melhorar nesse sentido, apesar de sair na frente e ter feito o gol, o árbitro parou uma jogada que não tem como ele parar, uma falta cobrada na bola parada, não existe regra que impedisse isso. Mas isso mostra que a equipe do Fortaleza é uma boa equipe – disse.

O São Paulo volta a campo contra o Juventude na próxima quinta-feira (12), às 19h30. O duelo será válido pelo jogo de volta da terceira fase na Copa do Brasil.

Newcastle United currently sit in fifth place in the Premier League table and are battling it out to secure a position in the Champions League for next season.

The Magpies have won their last six matches in all competitions and are fresh off the back of a 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur in North London on Saturday.

As you can see in the highlights below, all three of Eddie Howe’s starting attackers were involved in the two goals, with Anthony Gordon and Alexander Isak scoring and Jacob Murphy assisting the second goal.

Murphy has now contributed with an eye-catching three goals and seven assists in 17 appearances in the Premier League this season, which shows that he has stepped up to provide regular quality on that right side of the attack.

The former Norwich star turns 30 next month, however, and is unlikely to be the long-term solution to Howe’s problems in that position moving forward.

Newcastle could dip into the market in the January transfer window to find a long-term option to grow into that role, by signing a player closer to Hatem Ben Arfa in style than Murphy.

The French magician was a left-footed star who could play as an attacking midfielder or on the right flank, cutting in onto his left foot from the right, during his time at St. James’ Park.

In three years on Tyneside, Ben Arfa contributed with 14 goals and 15 assists in 86 appearances in all competitions for the Magpies, which shows that he offered plenty of quality as both a scorer and a creator of goals.

Beyond his goals and assists, the Toon sensation was simply a joy to watch. The mercurial playmaker, who averaged 2.9 successful dribbles per game throughout his career, was not afraid to run at defenders to get the team up the pitch and fans off their seats.

As you can see in the clip above, Ben Arfa had the ability to weave in and out of multiple challenges to create moments of magic in the final third, which resulted in wondergoals when he could apply the finishing touch to go with it.

Of course, not every mazy dribble ended with a goal or an assist, otherwise he would not have been playing for Newcastle battling in midtable in the Premier League at the time, but he often provided a spark when the team needed one out of nowhere.

Ben Arfa was a player the fans could get excited to watch play football week-in-week-out and Howe could unearth the club’s new version of the French sensation by swooping to sign one of Newcastle’s reported transfer targets before the end of the January window.

Newcastle eyeing Premier League gem

Last month, Football Insider reported that the Magpies are one of the clubs interested in a deal to sign Southampton forward Tyler Dibling ahead of the second half of the season.

The outlet claimed that Newcastle and Manchester United are both eyeing up the 18-year-old starlet after his impressive start to life in the Premier League with the struggling Saints.

It was reported that Dibling would prefer a move to St. James’ Park over one to Old Trafford, however, due to concerns over the kind of game time he would get with Ruben Amorim’s side.

Football Insider added that it could take a fee of up to £30m to convince Southampton to part ways with their star academy product, despite their struggles on the pitch in the top-flight this season.

It was not revealed, however, whether or not Newcastle would be prepared to offer that kind of money to secure a deal for the England youth international in the January transfer window.

The report did state, though, that any deal for Dibling is more likely to happen in the summer transfer window and that relegation from the Premier League for Southampton, who have six points on the table, could make an exit for the teenage star ‘inevitable’.

Whether it happens this month or ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, Howe could unearth the club’s next version of Hatem Ben Arfa by striking a deal to bring Dibling to St. James’ Park to bolster his options at the top end of the pitch.

Why Tyler Dibling could be Hatem Ben Arfa 2.0

Firstly, the Saints star does not turn 19 until February and is not yet at the peak of his powers in senior football, so he is someone who could come in with the long-term picture in mind.

This means that Howe could work with him on the training pitch to help the teenage sensation to fulfill his potential and elevate himself to a Ben Arfa level, or even higher, talent.

Anthony Gordon produced seven goals and three assists in 65 Premier League matches for Everton, a hardly prolific return, yet has managed 17 goals and 14 assists in 70 top-flight games under Howe, which shows the kind of development the manager can oversee.

Dibling’s form at youth level, with 19 goals and 11 assists in 59 academy matches for Southampton, suggests that the potential is there for him to develop into a regular contributor in the final third at first-team level, like Gordon.

As you can see in the clips above, from a clash with Newcastle’s U21 side in 2022, he has the technical ability to produce Ben Arfa-esque moments driving forward with his left foot to score impressive goals.

Despite his age, inexperience, and the six-point team he is playing in, Dibling has showcased glimpses of his talent at Premier League level so far this season.

As you can see in the table above, the English whiz, who U23 scout Antonio Mango claimed is “balling out”, has contributed completed more than two dribbles per start on average, and scored twice.

Howe could bring the left-footed star, who has predominantly been deployed on the right flank but can also play centrally, to St. James’ Park with a view to helping him take the next step in his career, as he did with Gordon, to turn Dibling into Ben Arfa 2.0 for the Magpies.

Glasgow Rangers dropped two points at Easter Road on Sunday after they failed to hold onto the lead against Hibernian in the Scottish Premiership.

The Light Blues had a 2-0 and a 3-2 lead at various points in the afternoon but were unable to hold on to secure all three points despite Hamza Igamane’s hat-trick, as the home side battled back hard to earn themselves a point.

Philippe Clement will be disappointed that his team, who have now won one of their last four league games, could not maintain their composure defensively to prevent Hibernian from having the chance to score three times.

One of the players who failed to step up when they were needed most was goalkeeper Liam Kelly, who is standing in for the unwell Jack Butland.

The Scotland international, who kept a clean sheet against Celtic at Ibrox on Thursday, conceded three goals from six shots on target against him on Sunday.

Martin Boyle’s first goal for Hibernian was one that the shot-stopper could do little about, however, as the winger fired a shot into the bottom corner with pace and power.

Whilst it would be tough to blame Kelly for not saving Boyle’s penalty, his part in the late equaliser from Rocky Bushiri should come under question.

The Rangers goalkeeper came off his line in an attempt to clear the cross from a corner and got absolutely nowhere near the ball, allowing Bushiri to head into a virtually empty net.

Kelly’s error contributed to the third Motherwell goal and led to the team dropping two points, but one player who was even worse than the stand-in goalkeeper was right-back Ridvan Yilmaz.

The Turkey international was deployed at right-back once again to fill in for James Tavernier, who is injured, and it is a difficult task for him to play on his weaker side.

However, Yilmaz showed that he does have what it takes to put in a strong performance in that position because he impressed in the win over Celtic on Thursday in that role.

The left-footed defender’s use of the ball against Hibernian was less than ideal, as he lost possession 16 times in total. He stalled on the ball and waited too long to make the right decision on numerous occasions, much to the frustration of Vaclav Cerny at times.

As you can see in the table above, Yilmaz’s performance level dipped significantly for the trip to face Hibs after an excellent showing against Celtic, in both his defensive and offensive contributions.

The Turkish lightweight lost the majority of his physical duels in the draw on Sunday, which helped the home team to pile pressure on Rangers in the second half, and he gave the ball away far too often.

Put it simply, Yilmaz let Clement down badly by allowing his performance level to drop as much as it did from his display against Celtic.

Carragher has faced further backlash for comments he made regarding the Africa Cup of Nations during a discussion on Mohamed Salah's hopes of winning the Ballon d'Or following Liverpool's 2-0 win against Manchester City. The ex-Reds defender claimed winning the competition would have no impact on his chances of being crowned the best in the world and after Ferdinand gave his opinion on the matter on his podcast, Carragher responded by calling the ex-Manchester United star a "clown".

Ferdinand jumped on Becker's comment to keep the jibes going, saying: "Boris… he’s having a bad couple weeks. Let him off".

Versailles have felt the need to issue a response, with a post on their X account being billed as “Official Statement: Cristiano Ronaldo”. In a blunt message to fans wondering what all of the fuss is about, the French club merely said: “Are you stupid or what?”

وأقيمت الحصة التدريبية الأولى للفريق مساء اليوم على ملعب استاد القاهرة الدولي، حيث يسعى الجهاز الفني لتجهيز اللاعبين بدنيًا وفنيًا قبل المباراتين المرتقبتين يومي 21 و25 مارس الجاري.

بدأت التدريبات بتمارين الإحماء البدني، قبل الانتقال إلى تنفيذ بعض الجمل التكتيكية والفنية تحت إشراف حسام حسن وطاقمه المساعد، الذين ركزوا على الجوانب التنظيمية داخل الملعب وتحركات اللاعبين في المواقف الهجومية والدفاعية.

شهد المران مشاركة عدد من العناصر البارزة في القائمة، من بينهم حراس المرمى محمد عواد وعبد العزيز البلعوطي، إلى جانب المدافعين خالد صبحي وحسام عبد المجيد، ولاعبي الوسط حمدي فتحي، أحمد عيد، نبيل دونجا، ومحمد شحاتة.

كما تواجد في التدريبات كل من محمود حسن “تريزيجيه”، إبراهيم عادل، مصطفى فتحي، أحمد سيد “زيزو”، محمود صابر، وأسامة فيصل.

ومن المقرر أن يستمر معسكر المنتخب في القاهرة حتى مساء الثلاثاء، حيث ستغادر البعثة إلى المغرب استعدادًا لمواجهة إثيوبيا في أولى المواجهات الرسمية خلال هذا التوقف الدولي لخوض منافسات تصفيات كأس العالم.
