Benches Clear in Game 7 After Dodgers’ Justin Wrobleski Hits Blue Jays’ Andrés Giménez

Tensions are running high in Game 7 of the 2025 World Series.

In the bottom of the fourth inning Saturday night, Dodgers reliever Justin Wrobleski hit Blue Jays shortstop Andrés Giménez with a 96.4 mph four-seam fastball in the forearm.

Giménez dropped his bat and held his arms out wide while staring at Wrobleski on the mound. The reliever took a few steps toward Giménez, and that’s when chaos ensued on the field.

Both the Dodgers’ and Blue Jays’ benches cleared, and even the relievers in the dugout did their ceremonial trot down to the field to get closer to the confrontation.

Despite showing the early signs of a fracas, no shoves or punches were thrown, and every player remained in the game. Wrobleski struck out Nathan Lukes and got Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to line out to center field to get out of the fourth inning without giving up a run.

Through five-and-a-half innings of Game 7, the Blue Jays lead the Dodgers 3–2.

Pirates Dismiss Pitching Coach After Posting Seventh-Best ERA in Majors

The Pirates enjoyed a successful season on the mound this year—but they are reportedly following that season with a surprising move.

Pittsburgh is dismissing pitching coach Oscar Marin, according to a Tuesday afternoon report from Jon Heyman of the . Marin, 42, had served in that position since 2020.

The reported move comes after the Pirates pitched to an ERA of 3.76—the seventh-best in baseball and the team's lowest in a decade, since it won 98 games in 2015. Pittsburgh also allowed fewer than four runs per game for the first time since '15.

Marin is also the only pitching coach Pirates star Paul Skenes has known since his promotion to the major leagues in 2024. In two years, Skenes is 21-13 with an ERA of 1.96 and 386 strikeouts in 320 2/3 innings.

Pittsburgh, which has weathered a reputation as one of North American professional sports' most poorly run teams for decades, has had four winning seasons in the last 30 years and none since 2018.

Supercomputer predicts England's 2026 World Cup squad

England have already booked their spot at the 2026 World Cup in Canada, Mexico and USA, with Thomas Tuchel’s side looking impressive in the qualifying stages.

The Three Lions didn’t even concede a goal in the six wins that guaranteed their place on the biggest stage, and attention will soon turn to who will be on the plane looking to win England’s first World Cup since 1966.

While there are some stars who are guaranteed to be on the way to North America, such as captain Harry Kane, Tuchel still has a lot to think about between now and June.

Of course, a lot could change between now and the summer, however, here is Chat GPT’s prediction of who will make England’s 26-player squad in Canada, Mexico and USA.

Goalkeepers

Jordan Pickford, Dean Henderson, James Trafford

Providing he remains injury free, Jordan Pickford looks set to continue as England number one in 2026 for the ninth successive year.

Providing back up to the Everton star, according to ChatGPT, will be Crystal Palace’s Dean Henderson and Man City’s James Trafford.

Defenders

Trent Alexander-Arnold, Reece James, Myles Lewis-Skelly, John Stones, Marc Guehi, Ezri Konsa, Dan Burn

One of the big decisions Tuchel made early on was to drop Trent Alexander-Arnold, however, Chat GPT feels the Real Madrid right-back will win his place back in the 26.

Chelsea’s Reece James and Arsenal’s Myles Lewis-Skelly are the other full-back options, with John Stones, Marc Guehi, Ezri Konsa and Dan Burn at centre-back.

Tottenham’s Djed Spence had been a regular in Tuchel’s squad, however, there’s no place for the full-back in the 26.

Midfielders

Jude Bellingham, Declan Rice, Adam Wharton, Elliot Anderson, Cole Palmer, Morgan Rogers, Eberechi Eze

Declan Rice and Elliot Anderson have been a regular in Tuchel’s midfield and could be the partnership that begins the World Cup campaign, backed by Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton.

Further forward, Jude Bellingham has been tipped to return to the squad after being left out recently due to fitness issues.

Chelsea, Arsenal and Aston Villa stars Cole Palmer, Eberechi Eze and Morgan Rogers make up the seven man midfield selection, with no room for the likes of Morgan Gibbs-White or Jordan Henderson.

Forwards

Harry Kane, Bukayo Saka, Phil Foden, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Gordon, Noni Madueke

Interestingly, ChatGPT thinks Tuchel will go with just one out-and-out centre-forward in captain Harry Kane. Marcus Rashford could also play centrally if required and his ‘revival in form’ at Barcelona sees him included.

Meanwhile, Anthony Gordon’s ’growing importance’ under Tuchel sees him included, alongside Arsenal stars Bukayo Saka and Noni Madueke and Man City ace Phil Foden.

Notable exclusions from Chat GPT’s forward line include Jarrod Bowen and Ollie Watkins.

Man City now ready to hijack Man Utd move to sign "elite" £100m star

Manchester City are now reportedly ready to hijack Manchester United’s move to sign a Premier League star worth as much as £100m in 2026.

Man City make Semenyo a top target

It’s not just their local rivals that Man City are looking to frustrate. The Citizens are also reportedly interested in signing Antoine Semenyo and have made the Bournemouth star a top target. In what would deal Liverpool an untimely blow, City could land one of the most in-form wingers that the Premier League has to offer.

It’s clear that Semenyo likes the idea of linking up with Erling Haaland, too, after saying: “Haaland is number one. You see it on TV, scoring all these goals and thinking, surely he’s not like this in person… That man is tall, my goodness. Tall, strong, fast, can finish.

“He’s got everything you need as a striker. I remember Man City just bopping, and I’m thinking, okay this is normal that they bop it. Ruben Dias wraps the ball to him, the ball’s like this high, I’m thinking ‘how’s he going to deal with this?’ just takes it on his chest like this – I am thinking: Haaland, the man.”

It’s also easy to see why City have set their sights on another direct winger. Aside from the improved Jeremy Doku, Pep Guardiola’s wide men have struggled to leave their mark, with Savinho receiving his fair share of criticism from those at the Etihad in recent weeks.

The Brazilian was part of a much-changed Man City side against Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League, but to say that he failed to make his opportunity count would be an understatement.

Alas, it’s not just wide men that Guardiola wants. The Spaniard and Man City have now reportedly turned their focus towards midfield star Elliot Anderson, who is represented by the same agency as Omar Marmoush.

Man City ready to hijack Man Utd's Anderson move

As reported by the Daily Mail’s Craig Hope, Man City are now ready to hijack Man Utd’s move for Anderson. The Citizens have made the Nottingham Forest star a top target and could splash out as much as £100m to secure his signature in 2026.

Man City now considering move for £65m forward who Pep called "extraordinary"

City have identified a forward as a priority target ahead of the January transfer window.

ByDominic Lund Nov 27, 2025

The England star is quickly becoming one of the most wanted players in the Premier League and that should come as no surprise.

England boss Thomas Tuchel has quickly made the Forest star one of his main men and has showered him with praise a number of times, telling reporters: “He is an elite player with the right attitude and a lot of talent. He is fulfilling his role in the best way possible so we are very happy with him.”

Walk-Off Wagers: MLB Best Bets Today (Take Rays Over Yankees, Dean Kremer Prop on Tuesday)

We’re back to a 15-game slate on Tuesday in Major League Baseball, which means there are plenty of matchups to bet on in today’s MLB Best Bets.

There are a pair of teams I’m backing on the moneyline, including a home underdog in the Tampa Bay Rays.

Plus, Baltimore Orioles starter Dean Kremer could be a sneaky pick in the prop market in a matchup against the Chicago Cubs.

Let’s break it all down!

MLB Best Bets Today for Tuesday, July 9Tampa Bay Rays (+110) vs. New York YankeesDean Kremer OVER 4.5 Strikeouts (-130)Minnesota Twins Moneyline (-166) vs. Chicago White Sox

Tampa Bay Rays (+110) vs. New York Yankees

The Tampa Bay Rays are home dogs on Tuesday against the struggling New York Yankees, who have lost 16 of their last 22 games.

I’m going to fade New York again, especially since Carlos Rodon is on the mound. The Yanks have dropped Rodon’s last four starts, with his ERA jumping from 2.93 to 4.45 in the process. He’s given up 31 hits and 23 earned runs across 19.0 innings in that stretch.

While Ryan Pepiot (4.40 ERA) hasn’t been great for the Rays this season, betting on the Yankees is extremely risky business right now – especially when they’re favored.

Until Rodon turns things around, he’s a must fade, as he’s taken New York out of games early by allowing five or more runs in three of his last four outings.

Dean Kremer OVER 4.5 Strikeouts (-130)

Baltimore Orioles starter Dean Kremer returned to action after a lengthy stint on the injured list on July 3, pitching five shutout innings while striking out eight batters.

He only threw 83 pitches, but I think the righty is undervalued at home against the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday.

The Cubbies have struck out a ton – 8.95 times per game – ranking 23rd in the league. Kremer has picked up at least five punch outs in six of his 10 outings so far in 2024, putting him in a solid position to clear this prop.

Minnesota Twins Moneyline (-166) vs. Chicago White Sox

The Minnesota Twins are on a three-game winning streak, taking down the Chicago White Sox on Monday night – a bet I had suggested in our MLB Best Bets column.

Now, they’ll send Bailey Ober to the mound against Erick Fedde on Tuesday. While Ober actually has a worse ERA than Fedde this season, the Twins have a better record (9-8) when Ober is on the mound than the White Sox do with Fedde (7-11).

Plus, I think the big advantage in this game comes from the bullpen. The White Sox are just 27th in Major League Baseball in bullpen ERA (4.59 ERA) while the Twins are one of the best ‘pens in the league with a 3.63 ERA.

Given Chicago’s struggles this season, I don’t mind taking the Twins to win again.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto Simulator Struck Out a Dodgers Teammate Before World Series Parade

Dodgers ace Yoshinobu Yamamoto decided to spend a portion of his Monday doing what he does best: pitching—the simulated version of him, anyway.

Yamamoto was crowned World Series MVP on Saturday night after his stellar October performances, from his historic complete game in Game 2 to his clutch close-out in the final key innings of Game 7. After winning baseball's biggest prize, the Japanese star prepared for the team's World Series parade on Monday while his teammate, Dodgers pitcher Roki Sasaki, had some fun with a Yamamoto simulator in batting practice.

In an Instagram Story shared by Sasaki, the Yamamoto simulator was seen pitching to Sasaki in a practice facility before Monday's championship parade. It seemed like there was some sort of contest going on, as what was presumably Sasaki's other Dodgers teammates could be heard egging on the Yamamoto machine.

"Strike him out! Strike out Roki!" one person said.

The Yamamoto simulator proceeded to do just that, and Sasaki took the loss in stride, captioning the video, "Yoshi is nasty."

Watch that funny moment below:

Yamamoto is just getting his Dodgers' career started, but after two title-winning seasons in L.A., he's already made his indelible mark in MLB history. Coming of this year's Fall Classic, the 27-year-old became the first player to win three games in a World Series since 2001, and just the fourth ever to record a win in Games 6 and 7 of the World Series.

Clearly, he's not finished yet, and neither is fellow Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani.

Former Mariners, Yankees Catcher Jesús Montero Dies at Age 35

Former MLB catcher Jesús Montero died at the age of 35 on Sunday after being involved in a motorcycle accident in his home country of Venezuela, local media Líder en Deportes reported. He had been involved in the accident earlier this month and was in an induced coma after suffering multiple injuries, the reported.

Montero signed a contract with the Yankees in 2006 after being regarded as one of the top prospects at the time. He eventually made his MLB debut in 2011. After appearing in just 18 games for New York that season he was traded to the Mariners in the offseason. Montero notched .328/.406/.590 averages across 61 at-bats while on the Yankees.

Montero ended up playing four seasons in Seattle. Montero averaged .247/.285/.383 and logged 24 home runs and 92 runs in his career with the Mariners.

He started the 2015 season in the minor leagues before being brought back up to the majors. Ahead of the 2016 season, the Mariners designated Montero for assignment, but then he was picked up by the Blue Jays. Unfortunately, Montero never played in the majors again after he was in the Blue Jays' system that year, followed by one year with the Orioles in '17.

Montero then played in the Mexican Baseball League, followed by the Venezuelan Baseball League for a few seasons.

Saif Hassan, Bangladesh's best-kept long-format secret

Coaches who knew of his immense talent kept quiet about it – he had to stay focused on first-class cricket

Mohammad Isam07-Feb-2020Saif Hassan’s development into a Test cricketer, in a country increasingly obsessed with the shorter formats, has the feel of a top-secret project. The story goes that at age-group levels, Hassan took long-format matches very seriously. As he grew older, batting for long periods became his thing. The captains and coaches he played for encouraged him to continue to bat his way because, in a country where nearly every batsman wants to hit fours and sixes, Hassan’s approach helped stabilise batting line-ups.On his first tour with the Bangladesh Under-17 team, he scored 96 and 72 in three-day games against Madhya Pradesh Under-17 at the Holkar Stadium in Indore. He spent six hours and 14 minutes, and four hours and 20 minutes batting, respectively, during those innings. Then when he batted with caution in the 2016 Under-19 World Cup, people called him “slow”. Some doubted whether he even had any shots. But Hassan was just following the coach’s orders to be at the anchor at one end, giving big-hitters Pinak Ghosh and Najmul Hossain Shanto the chance to go after bowling attacks.Naturally, Hassan missed out on his first opportunity at big-money cricket in Bangladesh – the 2018-19 BPL – when, despite impressive numbers in domestic cricket, he wasn’t picked by any of the franchises. His worth as a batsman was known to many coaches, but they kept quiet about him, hoping that he kept his interest in the longest format. No one really wanted to change his mindset. Lest he suddenly found the shorter versions more enticing.Hassan used that time away from the BPL well. The long hours he spent in the nets during that tournament helped him become the highest run-scorer in that season’s Dhaka Premier League, the one-day competition so revered in the Bangladesh domestic cricket.Given this background, it is no coincidence that Hassan’s first senior call-up, in November 2019, was to the Bangladesh Test side for the tour of India. Usually the Bangladesh selectors tend to give youngsters a T20I or ODI series for their first tour. Hassan was deemed likely to play the second Test, in Kolkata, but he injured his hand while taking a diving catch at gully, to see off Cheteshwar Pujara, as a substitute fielder in the first Test.Once recovered from the injury, he finally made his BPL debut, for Khulna Tigers. More recently – and more significantly – he played a first-class game in which he batted five and a half hours to make 58. In the same game, Tamim Iqbal, the player he will likely partner at the top of the order on his Bangladesh debut, made a record breaking 334 not out. There must have been a lesson or two for young Hassan from the accomplished opener. Later, Hassan said that it is his childhood dream to open the batting with him.Patience in age-group cricket, four years in top-flight domestic cricket, two double-hundreds in first-class cricket with an average over 45, a history of helping sides out of trouble both against the new and old ball, against pace and spin… it is now pretty clear where 21-year-old Hassan stands as a cricketer.Coach Mizanur Rahman, who has worked with Hassan at age-group and club level, says that he has prepared well over the years to be where he is today.

“Hard work pays off, everyone around me says this. I like to practise on my own, so I usually stay back after the team leaves to bat a bit longer”Saif Hassan

“He is ready for Test cricket,” Rahman says. “I think he is more Test-ready than some of his peers.”Saif is patient as a batsman. He has shown this quality in many competitions. He was apprehensive about playing shots when he first arrived in the Under-19 team but, with time, he gained skills. Now he has improved by playing a lot of first-class cricket.”Hassan points out that, despite the popular opinion on him, he has been working on his batting for all three formats – it was after all in the one-day format Dhaka Premier League where he made 814 runs at 62.61 following his BPL snub. He carried that form into his time with Bangladesh A, impressing during a four-day competition in Bengaluru, as well as on a tour of Sri Lanka last month.”I worked hard during the BPL last year as I wasn’t picked by any of the franchises,” Hassan told ESPNcricinfo a few days after his call-up to the national side. “I worked on areas outside my comfort zone. It gave me a good preparation for the Dhaka Premier League with Babul [Mizanur Rahman] sir. I used to come to the academy and bat for long hours in the nets.”I didn’t set a big target in the DPL last season. I just took it match by match, thinking that every match is important. I did the same when I played for Bangladesh A. I think any match can change my life.”Hassan got into cricket only after returning to Bangladesh from Saudi Arabia, where his father was employed. Once he was enrolled in a school in Bangladesh, it was time to play cricket.”I used to play a little in Saudi Arabia, but I started to take training seriously at the Dhanmondi Cricket Academy. I played third-division qualifying matches for the club. I try to go there every time I am free and bat for long hours.”Hassan, who then moved to the Indoor Cricket Academy, credits his parents for letting him play rather than asking him to put all his focus on academics as most parents do in Dhaka. “When I started practising in DCA, there were many better cricketers than me,” he says. “[But] my parents constantly supported me. They were never a barrier to my cricket dreams.”Hassan is known in cricketing circles for how he puts in extra work after training sessions. “Hard work pays off, everyone around me says this. I like to practise on my own, so I usually stay back after the team leaves to bat a bit longer.”Bigger tests await Hassan in the days ahead. But, his unique career path so far suggests that he has resolve and the skills to handle them, whatever they may be.
