أعلن المدافع الدولي البرتغالي، جواو كانسيلو، تعرضه لعملية سطو مسلح من قبل، مجهولين، تسببوا في إصابات له في الوجه.

المدافع البرتغالي، أعلن ذلك عبر حسابه الرسمي بموقع التواصل الاجتماعي “إنستجرام”، في الساعات الأولى من فجر اليوم الجمعة.

وكتب كانسيلو: “لقد تعرضت اليوم للاعتداء من قبل 4 جبناء قاموا بإيذائي وحاولوا إيذاء أسرتي”.

وأضاف: “عندما حاولت المقاومة هذا ما حدث، تمكنوا من أخذ كل مجوهراتي وتركوا وجهي بهذه الحالة”.

وواصل: “أنا لا أعلم كيف يوجد أناس بهذه الدناءة والخسة ولكن الأهم بالنسبة لي هو عائلتي ولحسن الحظ فهم جميعًا بخير”.

وأتم: “بعد الكثير من العقبات في حياتي، هذه مجرد واحدة أخرى سأتغلب عليها، سأظل قويًا كما هو الحال دائمًا”.

وفي نفس السياق ذكرت صحيفة “ذا جارديان” البريطانية، أن الشرطة قد انتقلت إلى منزل كانسيلو من أجل التحقيق في الأمر.

Whilst Tella is rightfully earning a lot of plaudits for his display, as he won the penalty in the first half and caused the Sheffield United defence all sorts of problems with his pace, it was arguably Stuart Armstrong who was the star performer against Chris Wilder’s side.

As per SofaScore, the Scottish international earned an impressive 7.4 match rating for his display, which was the best of any Southampton player, and the joint-best of any player from either side on the pitch. Tella, meanwhile, earned a 7.0 match rating.

During the 90 minutes, Armstrong played four key passes, which was the most of any player on the pitch (SofaScore), and he also picked up an assist for Adams’ goal as his chested lay-off was perfect for the former Birmingham striker to rifle home an incredible volley.

The former Celtic man was more than willing to run at the Sheffield United defence, as he completed two of his five dribbles during the game, more than the 1.5 dribbles per game he has averaged in the top-flight so far this season.

He was not just impressive from a creative point of view, however, as he also worked superbly with Kyle Walker-Peters down the right-hand side from a defensive point of view.

During his time on the pitch, the 26-year-old completed five tackles and made three interceptions, which is far more than the two tackles and 0.9 interceptions he has averaged in the Premier League this season.

Therefore, whilst Tella might be the name on a lot of Southampton fans’ lips after his promising display, it was arguably Armstrong who was the star at Bramall Lane, and Hasenhuttl will surely be delighted with the work he put in from both an attacking and a defensive perspective.

Manchester United have been dealt a significant injury blow ahead of their UEFA Europa League meeting with AC Milan after Marcus Rashford, who was pretty much ruled out of the game, now also set to miss this weekend’s key clash against West Ham United.

The forward sustained what looked like a serious ankle knock in the 2-0 win against Manchester City after tracking back.

He was eventually withdrawn from the action and despite it being previously suggested that Rashford had managed to dodge a long-term problem, Solskjaer has confirmed he is unlikely to be ready for the meeting with West Ham too.

He said:

“Even though normally I’m a very optimistic guy, I still think he’s going to be out [of the Milan game] and a doubt for the weekend.”

His absence is, of course, going to be felt hard by the Red Devils.

The £72m-rated forward has of course been in exhilarating form for United this season. Currently, in the middle of his most productive campaign to date, he has netted on 18 occasions, whilst also providing a further 12 assists.

Only Bruno Fernandes has contributed more than Rashford throughout the 2020/21 campaign.

The 23-year-old is also going to be sorely missed considering that he has been one of the most reliable players at Old Trafford this season. Having made 43 appearances, he has appeared in every single match in all competitions for the Red Devils.

That is even more damaging considering that there seems to be a real lack of replacements at the club. Fellow forward Edinson Cavani remains ruled out through injury, whilst Mason Greenwood has only managed four goals in all competitions – a far cry from Rashford’s output.

Solskjaer who admittedly is usually “optimistic” about his players’ returns has even admitted that Rashford is unlikely to be fit for the West Ham game. Considering not only the Milan match but also the big clash in terms of the top four race with the Hammers, the United boss will surely be gutted to have one of his key players missing during such a crucial week.

With star defender Virgil van Dijk having been ruled out for the majority of the season, Jurgen Klopp will surely be keen to have him back as soon as possible.

That is completely understandable considering the Dutchman’s immense influence at Anfield and the dramatic way in which the Reds have collapsed without him in the side this season.

With van Dijk taking “another step closer” towards being fully recovered, there was fleeting hope that he may be able to take part in the closing months of the season, but bringing him back far too soon could destroy Liverpool’s season and future campaigns even more.

According to orthopaedic surgeon Bas Pijnenburg, it would be a “considerable risk” for Van Dijk to return in any capacity this season.

Should he suffer another recurrence of the injury or indeed another problem, this would once again rule out Liverpool’s best centre-back, possibly for an even greater period of time.

Since signing for the Reds from Southampton in 2017, van Dijk has played 130 games, winning 92. This gives him a hugely impressive 70% win percentage when appearing. However, without the Dutchman, this drops sharply to just 52%.

Whilst the club will not want that poor record to continue this season by any stretch of the imagination, Klopp will simply not want this drop off in form to spill into next season at any cost should Van Dijk be ruled out again.

With just the UEFA Champions League left for the Merseysiders to feasibly win during the current campaign, it surely makes no sense to rush Van Dijk back and risk yet more damage.

After all, should he get injured once more then Liverpool will be back to where they started, putting unnecessary strain on an already threadbare position within their squad.

Despite Van Dijk being labelled as “unbelievable” by Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson, it is best for the £180k per week defender to be kept under wraps until next season.

On Thursday, as the Gers were knocked out of the Europa League after losing 2-0 to Slavia Prague, the Finland international claimed to have been racially abused by Ondrej Kudela. This has led to Slavia releasing a statement defending their player (slavia.cz), while Rangers have also made it clear that they will be standing by their man and have offered him their full support (rangers.co.uk).

On Saturday, a number of teams shared messages backing Kamara, and the Gers decided to retweet plenty of them. They even shared a photo from their Glasgow rivals of Scott Brown holding up a Show Racism the Red Card sign, and added the hashtag #OldFirmUnited.

There has been plenty of discussion about the use of the Old Firm phrase, with Celtic saying they are not a part of it while Rangers wear it with a badge of honour (Glasgow Times). In this case, however, many supporters were upset that the club decided to use Kamara’s situation to have a dig at their rivals.
