However, Leeds chiefs, and by extension owners the 49ers Enterprises, are already putting things in place ahead of the upcoming market, with a deal agreed for defender Rasmus Kristensen to make his loan move to Eintracht Frankfurt permanent, with the Whites set to bring in an initial £5m.

Meanwhile, Leeds have also held talks over a move away for Jack Harrison, who could return to the MLS. There are also numerous contract situations the club need to sort out over the coming months, with star left-back Firpo set to become a free agent at the end of June as things stand.

Leeds eye bid for Wolves defender Bueno

According to TEAMtalk, Leeds are considering a bid to sign Hugo Bueno this summer, with the defender currently on loan at Feyenoord.

The 22-year-old, under contract at Wolves until 2028, has impressed those at Elland Road, with the Whites eyeing a move as a result.

It is added that Leeds view Bueno as a potential replacement for Firpo, however, Premier League side Nottingham Forest are also keen on the Spaniard and could be able to offer European football next season.

Bueno has been a regular in the Netherlands this season, making 23 appearances in all competitions for Feyenoord, eight of which have come in the Champions League.

In a week to forget, Liverpool’s problems have never been so apparent under Slot. Panic is beginning to set in regarding Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold’s contracts now that we’re in March and it’s quickly becoming clear that the Reds need an attacking overhaul this summer.

With that said, the interest in one particular star man will certainly be well-timed. According to reports in Spain, Atletico Madrid are now preparing a €40m (£34m) offer to sign Darwin Nunez this summer in what would finally end his Anfield misery.

Whether Liverpool would accept such a bid after initially paying £64m plus add-ons to sign the forward back in 2022 remains to be seen. They’d instantly be taking a £30m loss on their initial investment, but after such a disastrous run, those at Anfield may be left with little choice.

Whether it’s been Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota or Nunez leading the line this season, that has been Liverpool’s point of weakness – leaving Cody Gakpo and particularly Salah to drag the frontline to potential glory.

Liverpool must commence overhaul with Nunez sale

If last week proved anything, it’s just how much Liverpool rely on Salah. When it’s not the Egyptian, there hasn’t been anyone else dragging the Reds to victory in recent weeks. Nuno Mendes kept him quiet and PSG succeeded.

Newcastle barely gave Liverpool’s star a significant touch and they were left lifting the Carabao Cup come full-time. And that’s a major problem for Liverpool, who will be bidding farewell to Salah at the end of his contract this summer as things stand.

First and foremost, keeping hold of Salah should be Liverpool’s top priority. Then they must rebuild their attack around their star man – starting with the sale of Nunez.

Once dubbed “outstanding” by Jurgen Klopp, Nunez has failed to kick on under Slot even as the No 9 role has become more up for grabs than ever during his time at Anfield. The excuse of settling in can no longer be afforded for the big-money striker, who simply must move on after three years of frustration on Merseyside.

Richard Gould, the ECB’s chief executive, says that the Cricket Discipline Commission (CDC) hearings into Azeem Rafiq’s allegations of racism at Yorkshire were an important moment for English cricket in its attempts to become the most inclusive sport in the country.Last Friday, five of the six former Yorkshire players who had been charged by the CDC – Matthew Hoggard, Tim Bresnan, John Blain, Andrew Gale and Rich Pyrah – were found to be in violation of cricket directives for making racist and discriminatory remarks. Former England captain Michael Vaughan, the only one of the six to attend the hearings which took place at the beginning of March, was cleared.Following the release of the CDC’s findings in an 82-page document, ECB chair Richard Thompson had described the investigation and subsequent disciplinary process as “the most complex and thorough” in the governing body’s history. Speaking on Wednesday, Gould reiterated that sentiment, adding it was a painful yet necessary undertaking for the game in England and Wales.”Clearly that was an important moment for the game,” Gould said. “That was the culmination of a lot of issues over a long period of time which had become poisonous for the game. We needed to ensure we could deal with those issues.”The process that culminated on Friday, it culminated in Azeem Rafiq publicly stating that he feels as if he’s been vindicated. I think that is a very important moment for somebody that has gone through such a difficult time.
