Dan Lawrence and Paul Walter’s sensational hitting fired Essex Eagles to their highest Vitality Blast total as they kept their home quarter-final dreams alive.Lawrence thrashed 71 off 37 balls, Walter a blistering 23-ball 58 and Adam Rossington a booming 45 to take Eagles to 254 – beating the 244 set barely two weeks ago. Glamorgan reached 185 for 7 in reply, with stand-in captain Sam Northeast pumping an unbeaten 97, to lose by 69 runs.Essex, the 2019 winners, had already confirmed a knockout spot and moved up to second in the South Group. Aaron Beard was the chief destroyer as he picked up 2 for 16 in his three overs with debutant Tom Bevan top-edging to deep third and Billy Root seeing his three stumps obliterated. Sams had Colin Ingram flicking to deep square leg.Eddie Byrom and Chris Cooke were both caught, but Northeast, skippering his third Blast side for the first time, stuck around and plundered a couple sixes of his own on his way to a 38-ball fifty – his third in T20s against Essex. Douthwaite chipped in with 34 off 17 in a 62-run stand but had his stump broken by Sams. As the required rate rose beyond the impossible 36 mark, Andrew Salter and Northeast started to have fun with 16 runs coming from three successive overs.Salter holed out and Northeast ended his campaign needing a boundary for a second Blast century but could only bunt a single.

NÃO REAPRESENTAÇÃO APÓS SELEÇÃO

Em junho de 2021, Flamengo e CBF tiveram divergências a respeito da gravidade da lesão de Gabigol, que acabou não se reapresentando ao clube para partida válida pela Copa do Brasil, contra o Coritiba, na capital paranaense.

Arsenal’s disappointing season went from bad to worse last night.

Mikel Arteta’s side played host to Newcastle United in the first League Cup semi-final, which has become increasingly important as a result of their poor Premier League form, but instead of taking a first-leg lead, the Gunners were blown away by the visitors.

There were impressive performances across the pitch for the Toon, but the clear stand-out was Alexander Isak, who has been consistently linked with a move to the Emirates, and if yesterday’s game was an audition, he passed with flying colours.

However, signing the Swede in the summer, let alone this month, could cost the North Londoners a king’s ransom, so recent reports linking them to an alternative number nine shouldn’t be a massive surprise.

Arsenal target sublime striker

According to a recent report from Football Transfers, Arsenal have maintained their longstanding interest in Juventus marksman Dušan Vlahović and have been handed a new opportunity to sign him this month.

The report has revealed that due to the Serbian’s monster wage of around £352k-per-week and the lack of progress made in renegotiating a lower salary, the Old Lady are happy to sell him this month to avoid him leaving for less in the summer or worse yet, for free next year.

According to the report, this desire to get the towering striker off the books has seen the Turin outfit lower their asking price to just €55m this month, which works out to around £46m.

Now, that is still a sizable fee, and few people will argue that he’s on the exact same level as Isak, but given Vlahović’s impressive ability and output over the last few seasons, it could prove to be a bargain and one that allows the club to spend elsewhere to boot.

How Vlahović compares Isak

So, the first thing to say is that, in a perfect world where money was no object and Arsenal could land any striker in world football, we imagine most fans, and likely the club, would also go out and get Isak.

However, that is simply not how the transfer market works, and while the Gunners could perhaps sign the Swede this year, reports from earlier this month indicate that they would have to spend a mammoth £150m to do so, and considering Declan Rice is the club’s current record signing at £105m, that seems incredibly unlikely.

So, with Vlahović supposedly available for less than a third of that price, he seems like a realistic and brilliant alternative, especially as his recent form isn’t a million miles off the Toon star’s.

For example, in just 23 appearances this season, the “world-class” Serbian, as dubbed by journalist Siavoush Fallahi, has scored 12 goals and provided two assists, equating to an impressive average of a goal involvement every 1.64 games.

In comparison, the former Real Sociedad ace has scored 15 goals and provided four assists in 22 appearances, equating to a slightly better average of a goal involvement every 1.15 games, although it’s not £104m better.

Moreover, while the Newcastle star is fantastically talented, he has a worrying injury record.

For example, since the start of his career, the Solna-born ace has missed 66 games through injury, whereas the Belgrad-born titan has missed just 26 games.

Ultimately, Isak is a simply sensational footballer, but at potentially £150m, it seems incredibly unlikely that Arsenal will sign him, especially when Vlahović is supposedly available for less than a third of that while only being marginally worse.

It might not be a move that makes the fans happy, but signing the Juventus star and using the £104m left over to invest in more wide players could be the smartest option for Arteta and Co.

Everton are reportedly planning talks with a club over the signing of a creative “revelation”, with a loan move in the January transfer window mooted.

The Blues still look horribly short of attacking quality this season, with Wednesday’s 1-0 defeat at home to Aston Villa in the Premier League once again outlining their lack of threat in the final third. For that reason, it is essential that extra firepower is looked at before the end of the month.

It certainly looks like that is the case, with Everton continuing to be linked with new attacking signings, including young Leicester City striker Tom Cannon, who is wanted by a host of clubs this month.

Willian is a player who the Blues have come up against many times down the years, during stints with the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and Fulham, and the Brazilian is another rumoured target for them. He is a free agent currently, meaning David Moyes could bring him in on a free transfer in January.

On the flip side, Armando Broja may see his loan deal at Everton terminate this month because of injury, with Moyes admitting as much, saying: “We think he’s going to be out for somewhere between 10-12 weeks. It’s his ankle ligaments. It’ll probably mean there’s a possibility that he will have to go back to Chelsea.”

Everton planning talks over signing "revelation"

According to a fresh claim from Caught Offside, Everton are “preparing to hold talks” with Chelsea over the signing of Kieran Dewsbury-Hall.

The midfielder has been a peripheral figure for the Blues since moving to Stamford Bridge from Leicester last summer, and the possible exit of Broja means the Merseysiders could be afforded the chance to sign him. Ben Chilwell is also mentioned as a loan target – Broja’s exit would only make room for one of them under the league’s loan rules however.

Dewsbury-Hall is exactly the type of player that Everton have been missing this season – someone who can weave creative magic in midfield and attacking areas. The £80,000-a-week Englishman has had a tough season at Chelsea, not starting a single Premier League game and featuring for only 56 minutes in the competition, highlighting why a move away would surely appeal to him.

While Dewsbury-Hall’s stock has fallen after a brilliant 2023/24 campaign with Leicester in the Championship – he got 12 goals and 14 assists in the league last term – he could still be a brilliant addition for Everton, with Brendan Rodgers hailing him back in 2022.

“He’s been a revelation for us. He is a young man that is very determined. He has great human qualities as well. His humbleness, his vision of where he wants to go is very clear and he knows that is just about work. It is staying calm, staying focused and improving yourself every game.”

Zimbabwe couldn’t quite make it a whitewash after Bangladesh trounced them by 105 runs in the third ODI in Harare. The visitors put on a better show with the ball as the home side were bowled out for 151 runs, after fifties from Anamul Haque and Afif Hossain powered Bangladesh to 256 for 9.It was Bangladesh’s lowest total in the series after making 303 and 290 in the last two matches, but Zimbabwe had no answer to Bangladesh’s all-round bowling efficiency on Wednesday. Mustafizur Rahman took four wickets after two each from Ebadot Hossain and Taijul Islam.The win was delayed by an entertaining 68-run tenth wicket stand between Nos. 10 and 11, Richard Ngarava and Victor Nyauchi, who scored 34 and 26, respectively – Zimbabwe were reeeling at 83 for 9. The pair struck nine fours and two sixes as they added Zimbabwe’s highest tenth-wicket stand in ODIs.The hosts had a wobbly start to the chase. Openers Takudzwanashe Kaitano and Tadiwanashe Marumani fell in the first two overs. Hasan Mahmud trapped Kaitano lbw while Marumani needlessly charged at and missed and was bowled by Mehidy Hasan Miraz. The openers’ total of 32 runs in the series is the lowest for any team which has won an ODI series. -As duas equipes precisavam de um gramado melhor, natural, onde você consiga criar mais. Quando o gramado não está tão bom, é natural que seja mais fácil de destruir jogadas. Sei que o Fortaleza finalizou mais que a gente, com mais distâncias, chutes cruzados na área, mas dificulta. A gente sabe que essa época de chuva machuca muito o gramado e acaba tendo erros de passes, construção, mas ofensivamente não criamos tanto quanto no jogo do Bragantino – destacou.

Alejandro Garnacho has featured regularly in the Premier League this season, but there is now major doubt over the winger’s future at Old Trafford, with Chelsea becoming the latest club to hold talks over a deal.

There is also interest from Italy, with reports from earlier this week detailing that Napoli are ready to increase their offer for the 20-year-old, who is valued at £59m by United.

According to a new report from Tuttosport (via Sport Witness), the deal is now advancing, with Napoli submitting a €55m (£46m) offer for Garnacho, having generated the funds for a deal by selling Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to Paris Saint-Germain.

The Argentina international is said to have agreed contract terms with the Serie A side, indicating that he is keen on the move, but an improved bid may need to be submitted to get a deal over the line.

Man United are maintaining a €70m (£59m) asking price for the youngster, so the two clubs are still some way apart.

Man Utd should sell Garnacho

It is always a shame to see a player who has progressed through the youth ranks move on to pastures new, but if Garnacho wants to leave, Amorim shouldn’t stand in his way.

The Argentinian has shown some promising signs in a United shirt, receiving praise for his “sensational” performance against Aston Villa from reporter Michael Plant just over a year ago.

The left-winger has scored three Premier League goals this season, but he has been unable to cement his place in the starting XI, often being utilised as a substitute, having failed to really kick on since last season.

As such, Man United should look to cash in on Garnacho this month, and raising £59m from his sale would potentially allow them to bring in a top-quality replacement that fits more into Amorim’s plans.
